Master Teacher - Casa Sumapaz, Colombia · June-July 2026

The role

You're the lead educator for one Cohli cohort. You design and hold the learning space for the children who travel with us - across ages, languages, energies, and learning styles. You're not running a school. You're holding a living, place-based, project-led learning environment that fits a coliving rhythm.

You work alongside a Lead Educator from the Casa Sumapaz team (Lorena, who leads our place-based curriculum here) and are supported by an assistant. Education is co-held, but you bring the structure, the pedagogy, and the daily presence.

Hold the learning space 4 hours/day, Monday to Friday - usually mornings.
Co-design weekly themes that weave place (Andes, plants, agriculture, Colombian culture) with self-directed exploration.
Run morning circles, project work blocks, nature/outdoor sessions, and reflection rituals.
Hold space for mixed ages (2-12). You'll have an assistant for the youngest group.
Communicate weekly with parents - a brief "what we're learning" note, plus 1:1 conversations as needed.
Light coordination with the Cohli facilitator and the Casa Sumapaz team. Operations are not your job.

What you'd bring

This isn't a checklist of certifications. It's a description of the person we believe will flourish in this role.

Real teaching experience with mixed ages - alternative, project-based, Reggio, Montessori, forest school, or similar pedagogies.
Comfort designing learning that uses place as the primary text - gardens, kitchens, walks, conversations with locals.
The ability to hold groups of children with calm presence, clear boundaries, and warmth.
Conversational Spanish (working level). You'll co-hold with a Spanish-speaking lead educator and we have Spanish-speaking children.
Experience in or strong curiosity about nomadic/worldschooling families - the kids in the room have lived more places by age 7 than most adults.
The maturity to ask for support, name what's hard, and stay regulated through the messier weeks.

Accommodation

Private room at Casa Sumapaz, fully covered for the 4 weeks. Family rooms available if you bring partner/kids.

Meals

Three meals a day, prepared by the Casa Sumapaz kitchen. Mostly local, mostly from the farm.

Stipend

Modest weekly stipend (discussed individually, depending on your situation and which track you choose).

Community + reference

Membership in the Cohli community of educators, a written reference, and priority for future cohorts.

If you're a teaching family wanting to bring your own kids into the cohort while you teach, we have a separate track. Mention it in your application - we'll talk through what fits.

The place + the families joining

Casa Sumapaz is a finca in the Colombian highlands, 90 minutes from Bogotá. It's where we ran our first cohort in 2025 - a group that gave the experience an NPS of 9.77.

Working farm, garden, mountain trails, big shared kitchen, Andean forest. Families live in private rooms or family suites. Education happens in the garden, the bamboo studio, and the surrounding land.

The families joining this cohort: 6-8 confirmed, mostly with two children, traveling internationally for at least a year. A mix of Spanish and English at home. We'll share more about the specific families with shortlisted candidates.
